An initial psychological evaluation costs $250 and typically lasts 90 minutes. The time that Dr. Parker spends developing and writing the treatment plan is included in this fee.
Fees for individual, family, and couple psychotherapy are $140 per session, a session typically lasting 45 to 50 minutes. When treatment goals necessitate an extended session and such is possible and desired by the patient, the cost is pro-rated at this hourly rate. So a session lasting 75 minutes will cost $210.
Neuropsychological screening costs are $175 per hour and typically entails 1 to 2 hours of face-to-face testing by a testing technician, scoring time, interpretation, report writing time, and results consultation. A $700 retainer at the time that the testing is performed is required. The entire process usually lasts 4 hours total, including an hour consultation, hence the retainer.
Attorney-referred assessments, including Veteran’s and Social Security disability evaluations, are $250 per hour. There is a $500 retainer for each case. These assessments usually entail a 60 to 90-minute interview of the disability claimant, a full review of the claimant’s medical record, further testing if such is indicated, and report write-up.
Before an appointment is scheduled, we will review fees with you. In order to set realistic treatment goals, it is important to evaluate what resources you have available to pay for treatment. If you have health insurance, it will usually provide some coverage for mental health treatment. We strongly recommend that you carefully read the section of your insurance coverage booklet that describes mental health services so that you fully understand your insurance plan, including in-network and out-of-network benefits, deductibles and pre-authorization requirements. If you have questions about the coverage, call your plan administrator.
Payment is due at the time of service, and we accept checks, cash, VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and most debit and HSA cards.
Will you file claims with my insurance company?
As a courtesy to our patients, we are happy to file your initial insurance claim for you which will be payable to you by your insurance company, assuming that you have any out-of-network mental health benefits. We will provide you with a copy of this claim which you may use as a template to file any subsequent claims. As mentioned on the page “Insurance questions,” Dr. Parker is “out-of-network” for most commercial insurance. Therefore, full payment for his services is required at the time of service for all patients who do not have Medicare. For patients who do have Medicare but no secondary insurance, all co-payments will be collected at the time of service. Be sure to check your plan or call your plan administrator to determine what coverage that you may have that you may utilize.
What if I have to cancel my appointment?
We understand that illness and other unforeseen events are inevitable. If you need to cancel and/or reschedule your appointment, please call our office at least 24 hours before your scheduled time. Cancellations received with less than 24 hours’ notice may incur a cancellation fee.
Do you do pre-authorization or pre-certification?
Do know that we do not make any pre-authorization or pre-certification calls for you to your insurance company. That is your responsibility if you seek to obtain out-of-network reimbursement from them.
